From the International Spouses at Waterloo comes an invitation for a walking tour this coming Friday.

Friday morning, Sept. 17th — Join Nancy Matthews on a walking tour of her favourite places in Uptown Waterloo, including the main branch of Waterloo Public Library, a wonderful hardware store, a great independent bookstore, and more! We’ll end at a cafe’ for a snack, for those who would like to stay and chat.

We’ll meet at the library (35 Albert Street, Waterloo) at 10 am (at the downstairs entrance by the check-out desk). You can walk to the library from campus or take a bus and walk from King Street and Uptown Waterloo. Paid parking is available at the library or there is 2-hour, free parking at Waterloo Square. Pub Nights for International Postdocs!

Dear International Postdocs,

It has been a tradition since a couple of years now, to meet every Wednesday for a pub night. This is nothing formal, and everyone can decide to join or not every week. Initially, the crowd was mainly international graduate students from UWaterloo, but undergrads (19+!) and non-international students are very welcome. There is also a fair amount of postdocs joining us weekly!

The Wednesday pub night means that we meet at around 8pm in a weekly-randomly-selected-pub/bar in Waterloo, and the end is never well defined. That’s the perfect event for meeting new students and postdocs, and from all over the world!

If you are interested to join us, please send an email to thepubnight@gmail.com and just mention that you want to be added to the list!  You will receive an email every Tuesday as a reminder, with more details about the place and time of the pub night.

The first pub night should be this Wednesday, 15th of September, at the Grad House on campus, at 7pm. It is a good idea to join at the first pub nights and get familiar with the group. We are also on Facebook (who isn’t…) and the group is called “International Students’ Pub Night”.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Hope to see you at the Wednesday pub nights!
